We walk roofs every day
Tile, shingle and metal each need a different step. Our roofers know where to put their feet so tiles do not crack and shingles and metal finishes do not get scuffed.
Christmas & holiday lighting installation · Central Florida
Roof It designs, installs, services and takes down professional Christmas and holiday lighting for homes, HOAs and businesses in Longwood, Seminole County and nearby Central Florida. We are roofers, so your roof is in the hands of people who work on roofs every day: roof-safe clips, never nails, and plug-in commercial-grade LED lights on your existing outdoor outlets. Book by Thanksgiving (Nov 26) for the widest choice of install dates; bookings stay open through the season as the schedule allows.
Hanging lights is a roof job. Most damage from holiday lights comes from how people walk the roof and what they fasten to it. That is our everyday work.
Tile, shingle and metal each need a different step. Our roofers know where to put their feet so tiles do not crack and shingles and metal finishes do not get scuffed.
Tile-edge clips, shingle tabs, gutter clips and seam-friendly clips for metal. No nails, staples, adhesive or holes in your shingles, fascia or gutters.
Our crews use proper ladder setup and fall protection, the same safety habits as a roofing job, so you are not the one on the roof in December.
Roofers know flashing, ridge caps, drip edge and gutters. We never pry up a shingle seal, a ridge cap or flashing to hide a clip, so nothing is left open to rain.
Roof It is a Florida licensed roofing contractor CCC1337225, based in Longwood. You can look up the license, and you know exactly who hung your lights.
Bulbs evenly spaced, strands cut to your roofline, cords tucked out of sight. The kind of finish people notice from the street.
In January we unclip every strand by hand, coil and label it, and leave the roof, gutters and trim as we found them.
Roof It roofing crews do the install, on the roof and on the ladder, with the same care they bring to a roofing job.
Roof It is insured for holiday lighting installs. Whoever you hire, ours or anyone else’s crew, make sure they are insured too. It is one of the simplest ways to protect your home or business.
Hanging lights means ladders, rooflines and gutters, often two stories up. Even careful, experienced crews can have an accident, and insurance is what deals with the cost when something goes wrong.
A cracked tile, lifted shingles, a bent gutter or scuffed fascia can cost more to repair than the lights cost to hang. An installer with liability coverage has a way to make that right.
If an uninsured installer is hurt on your property or damages it, the bills can end up with you as the property owner, or on your own insurance policy. Your insurance agent can tell you how your policy would treat that.
Before anyone climbs a ladder at your home or business, ask for a certificate of insurance. Check the company name, the type of coverage and the policy dates, and ask whether their crew is covered by workers’ compensation. You can call the agent listed on it to confirm it is current.
Questions to ask any installer: Are you insured for holiday lighting work? Can I see a current certificate of insurance? Is your crew covered if someone is hurt on my property? A professional installer will be glad you asked.
There is nothing to buy, nothing to cook in a hot Florida garage or attic, and no strands to untangle next December.
C9 bulbs are the large, classic roofline bulb, easy to see from the street and the usual choice for eaves, ridges and peaks. C7 bulbs are a little smaller and suit lower rooflines, porches, windows and anywhere people see the lights up close.
Strands are cut to the length of each run, so there are no bunched-up extras hanging off a corner, and LEDs draw far less power than old incandescent bulbs, which helps when every light runs off your existing outdoor outlets.
The clip and the way we walk change with the roof. Here is how we handle each one.
Concrete and clay tile cracks when it is stepped on in the wrong place. We walk tile the way a tile roofer does and use clips made for tile edges and ridges. Nothing is glued or drilled.
Along the eave we mostly use gutter and drip-edge clips. Where shingle clips are the better choice, they go in without prying up the shingle or breaking its seal strip. Cords are never dragged across shingles, which scrubs off granules.
No screws through panels, ever. We use clips that hold to the edge, trim or seam without piercing the metal, and we walk metal carefully so the finish is not scuffed.
We light the edge, gutter or parapet and keep clips and cords off the membrane and out of the path to drains and scuppers, so water still runs where it should.

Your price depends on the length of the roofline, how high and steep it is, the roof type, how many outdoor outlets are where the lights need to go, and any extras such as trees, wreaths or garland. You get a design and a written quote before anything goes up. HOA and commercial displays get a custom quote after a site visit.

Takedown is in January, between Jan 2 and Jan 31, 2027. We contact you to set the day. Every clip comes off by hand; nothing is yanked off the roof edge or gutters.
Your strands are coiled, labeled for your house and stored until next season, so next year’s install goes up faster and matches this year’s design unless you want a change.
Every display we install plugs into your home’s existing outdoor outlets, and we design the lights around where those outlets are.
We do not do electrical work: no new outlets, wiring or hard-wired fixtures. If you need an outlet added, we can refer you to a licensed electrician and plan the lights around it once it is in.
Permanent lighting: we do not install hard-wired permanent or track lighting. If you want a permanent system, talk to a licensed electrician.
We also light HOA entrances, clubhouses, storefronts and office buildings. Every HOA or commercial display is quoted after a site visit, because sizes, power and schedules vary.
We work with the board or property manager on the design, the outdoor outlets available, install and takedown dates, and any community rules.
We have the lifts and the labor for complex commercial jobs: tall rooflines, large trees and multi-building properties. See commercial holiday lighting.
