Christmas light installation in Sanford, FL

The short version

Roof It hangs holiday lights on Sanford homes and storefronts. Our roofers use clips that grip the roof edge, shingles or gutters, so nothing is nailed into old wood trim, and every display plugs into your existing outdoor outlets.

Older homes, live oaks and Lake Monroe

Sanford sits on the south shore of Lake Monroe and kept a large collection of older homes and commercial buildings from its days as a trade and rail center, on streets shaded by live oaks and Spanish moss. The Sanford Residential Historic District, listed on the National Register in 1989, alone takes in more than 400 historic buildings between 3rd Street and 14th Street.

Older homes often have original wood fascia, porch trim and decorative details. That is exactly why we never use nails, staples or screws: the clips grip the edge and come off cleanly, so the wood is not left full of holes after the season. Under big live oaks, we route strands so they are not tangled in limbs that rest on the roof.

Downtown Sanford, with its shops and restaurants near the Riverwalk, is a natural place for storefront lighting. Business displays are quoted after a site visit so we can see the facade and the outlets.

What we plan for in Sanford

  • No fasteners in original wood trim, fascia or porch details
  • Porch lines and peaks on older homes
  • Strands routed clear of live oak limbs
  • Storefront and facade displays downtown, quoted after a site visit
  • Metal, shingle or tile clips to suit the roof

Hung by licensed roofers

Our roofers walk tile, shingle and metal without cracking or scuffing, use the right roof-safe clip for each roof with no nails, staples, adhesive or holes, and use proper ladders and fall protection so you stay on the ground. Roof It is a Florida licensed roofing contractor CCC1337225.

Insured crews. Roof It is insured for holiday lighting installs. Whoever you hire, ask for a certificate of insurance before anyone gets on a ladder. Why installer insurance matters.

Sanford Christmas light questions

Can you hang lights on a historic home without damaging it?

That is how we work on every house. Clips hold the lights to the roof edge, shingles or gutters, and nothing is nailed, stapled or screwed into the trim. When the lights come down, the house is left the way we found it.

My house is in the historic district. Is that a problem for holiday lights?

Temporary plug-in lights do not change the building. If you are unsure whether any local guidelines apply to your property, ask the city before you book.

Do you light storefronts in downtown Sanford?

Yes. We quote business displays after a site visit and plan the lights around the building’s existing outdoor outlets.

What if I don’t have an outdoor outlet where the lights need to go?

Our lights plug into existing outdoor outlets only, and we do not do electrical work. We design around the outlets you have, or we can refer you to a licensed electrician if you want an outlet added.
